Pomodoro Technique

This classical method uses 25 minutes of working time, takes a 5 minutes break, and then repeats. Many apps and tools for the Pomodoro technique can help you track your time and the number of cycles you went through. You can, however, modify this method to be more than 25 working minutes. Some people set 45 minutes of work then take 15 minutes of break.

Delegating

Delegation is one of the methods that Tim Ferriss talked about in his book “The 4-Hour Work Week.” The idea is to delegate the tasks that we don’t enjoy doing or the tasks that take a lot of our time to others — employees or freelancers — to get more done in our area of expertise. This is one of the ways that will free up most of our time to do what we enjoy and what we are good at.

The two-minute rule

David Alen popularized this method in his book “Getting Things Done.” The idea here, if you have something that requires less than 2-minutes, then you should do it now. This way, you make sure that you don’t load your tasks list with tedious tasks to instantly get them out of the way.

The two-day rule

This is one of the simplest ways to stay committed. Don’t allow two days to pass in a row without doing the habit or activity you need to do. One example is working out, workout every day or every other day, but don’t allow yourself to skip working out more than two days in a row. This way, you can be sure that you don’t slack off and skip working out for more than two days in a row.

Time blocking

This method is a time-saving method. You block a time range on your calendar for any activity or task. You define your activities and tasks on your calendar, so you know that you have activity X from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. This way, you concentrate on the task at hand and not thinking about it every time.

The five-minute rule

This method is for starting to work on something that you are not giving time for. Working on something for 5 minutes is easier than thinking about the real-time that it would really take.

Systems

Creating systems is the best way to increase productivity and create workflows.

Daily highlight

Working on one thing at a time. Making one task a priority each day will increase your focus, therefore, enhance your output.

Batching

Working on multiple tasks at once and trying to batch them all at once instead of splitting the work across the week.

Color coding

Using colors to distinguish your tasks and make them more meaningful to understand and comprehend.
